PVC vs. composite ID cards: what's the difference?
A PVC card is a 100% polyvinyl chloride plastic card, the standard economical material for printed ID cards. A composite card blends about 60% PVC with 40% PET (polyester), which resists heat without warping and makes it the preferred material for lamination and retransfer printing.

When should you choose composite over PVC?
Choose composite when cards will be laminated for extra security, printed on a retransfer printer, or exposed to frequent handling and heat. Choose standard PVC when cards are printed direct-to-card and cost is the priority. Both are made at CR80 size, 30 mil thickness.
