Convention Name Badges, Multi-Day Passes, and Expo Tags
Large-format attendee badges that read across an aisle. Vendor and exhibitor variants with booth numbers. Multi-day pass tracking with color-coded day squares. Optional QR codes for session check-in or lead capture. Made in USA, 24 to 48 hour turnaround, no minimum order.
What's the standard convention badge size and layout?
Most conventions use the 4 by 6 inch large format so the attendee name reads from across an aisle. The badge typically shows the convention logo at the top, name centered large, badge type (ATTENDEE / VENDOR / EXHIBITOR), and color-coded day-pass squares for multi-day events. Optional QR codes can be added for session check-in or lead capture. Glossy white plastic is the standard material.

Three Convention Badge Variants
Most conventions color-code badges by role so vendors and exhibitors can quickly identify decision-makers, attendees can find sponsor booths, and security can track who belongs where.
General attendees
Glossy plastic with full-color print. Convention logo top, name large in the middle, badge type (WEEKEND PASS / DAY PASS), day-pass squares to mark off, optional QR code and badge number.
Vendors and exhibitors
Same plastic with booth number printed prominently. Often paired with a different lanyard color and an EXHIBITOR ribbon below the badge. Helps attendees identify booths from across the hall.
Speakers, board, and VIPs
Upgraded design or material for marquee guests. Often features the convention logo in metallic foil or a contrasting color block with SPEAKER, BOARD, or VIP printed prominently.
Multi-Day Pass Tracking
Multi-day conventions print color-coded day squares directly on the badge (FRI, SAT, SUN, MON). Volunteers at the door mark each day with a permanent marker or apply a small color sticker when the attendee enters.
- One badge for the entire event, no re-printing
- Day squares act as a visual entry log
- Color stickers reusable across years
- Pass type (WEEKEND / FRIDAY ONLY / VIP) printed alongside
- Combined with QR codes for digital tracking
Frequently Asked Questions
What size are convention name badges?
Conventions typically use the larger 4 by 6 inch format so the attendee name reads across an aisle. Trade shows often go even larger to show the company name and booth number to passersby. We also produce the standard 4 by 3 inch event size for smaller conventions.
How do multi-day convention passes work?
Multi-day passes have small color-coded day squares printed on the badge (FRI, SAT, SUN, MON). Volunteers at the door mark off each day with a permanent marker or apply a small color sticker when the attendee enters. The pass stays on the lanyard for the duration so attendees do not need a new badge each day.
Can convention name badges have QR codes?
Yes, QR codes are an optional add-on. They can be printed directly on the badge for session check-in, exhibitor lead capture, or attendee profile lookup. QR codes are not standard, you choose whether to include them when designing.
What's the difference between a convention badge and a trade show badge?
Mechanically they are the same product. Conventions tend to use larger formats with multi-day pass tracking, while trade shows often emphasize company name and booth number prominently for visibility from the aisle. We support both formats on the same materials and attachments.
Can I order vendor or exhibitor badges separately from attendee badges?
Yes. Most conventions order one base attendee design plus a smaller batch of EXHIBITOR or VENDOR variants with the booth number printed prominently. We accept a single roster CSV with a badge-type column and produce all variants in one production run.
What attachment works best for convention badges?
Lanyards are standard for conventions because attendees wear the badge for many hours and lanyards do not damage the shirt. We stock branded lanyards in multiple colors plus custom-printed lanyards for recurring conventions. Pin and clip backings are also available.
How long does it take to receive convention badges?
Standard turnaround is 24 to 48 hours from approved proof. We manufacture in-house across two USA facilities (Cooper City, Florida and Greenville, South Carolina) with 100 plus commercial machines, so even orders of several thousand badges still ship in the same window.
Is there a minimum order for convention badges?
No. NameBadge.com has no minimum order. Order 50 for a small business expo or 5,000 for a major industry convention. Free shipping applies to orders over $200.
Can I reorder badges last minute for walk-in registrations?
Yes. We support rush reorders even on event day. Most convention organizers also order 5 to 10 percent extra blank badges that can be hand-written or run through a desktop label printer on site. Rush production with overnight shipping is available.
Does NameBadge.com outsource production?
No. NameBadge.com designs, prints, engraves, cuts, and ships every badge using equipment owned and operated by our own team. We do not outsource and we do not drop-ship. Production happens at our facilities in Cooper City, Florida and Greenville, South Carolina.
