Can you add an NFC chip or QR code to a name badge?
Smart badges let a customer or contact reach your digital information from a physical badge. There are two technologies, and they work differently: a printed QR code and an NFC tag.
Can you print a QR code on a badge?
Yes. A QR code is printed directly onto the badge on our in-house UV presses, so anyone can scan it with a phone camera. It becomes a permanent part of the badge art at no extra hardware cost.
What can the QR code link to?
- A company website or landing page
- A digital business card (vCard) that saves your contact details
- A menu, booking page, or review link
- A staff profile or scheduling page
How does NFC work with a badge?
NFC lets someone tap a phone to share a link without scanning. Because NFC needs an embedded chip and antenna, it is provided through programmable NFC stickers or tags paired with the badge rather than built into the badge material itself. If you want NFC, contact us and we will confirm the current options for your order.
To add a printed QR code, start in the design tool or see QR codes on name badges. Printed in-house in the USA.
